Hunter Education Group was honoured to be selected by Study NSW, part of the NSW Government, to represent regional and vocational training at the NSW International Education and Skills Summit 2026 at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta on 25 July.
Our General Manager, Jeff Long, and Regional Manager, Tamara, met hundreds of young Indonesians planning to study overseas. Many were looking for a pathway into a hospitality career – and Hunter Education was high on their list.

Why study in regional Australia?
Jeff was invited to speak in the summit’s seminar “Study NSW: Level Up Your Study Experience in Regional NSW”, presenting to students, parents and expo visitors on the benefits of studying in regional Australia. Three reasons stood out:
- A lower cost of living than Sydney or Melbourne, so your budget goes further while you study.
- Post-study opportunities for graduates of regional institutions.
- Hands-on industry experience through Hunter Education Group’s network of partner hotels across regional NSW.

Newcastle: a city booming in hospitality and tourism
As Jeff told the audience:
“Students who choose Hunter and take this opportunity to come to Newcastle are giving themselves the best possible chance to get a head start in their hospitality career. Newcastle is booming right now in tourism and hospitality, with new hotels, restaurants and tour operators opening up at a rapid pace. They all need workers, and Hunter students are right at the front of the queue to get those work opportunities.”
