IELTS scholarship · up to 20% off tuition
English Excellence Scholarship
A scholarship for international students with strong IELTS results. If your IELTS score is 6.0 or higher, you save up to 20% on tuition for any Diploma or Advanced Diploma at Hunter Education Group in Newcastle.
You receive
- 20% tuition reduction with IELTS 6.5
- 10% tuition reduction with IELTS 6.0
Eligible courses: all Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses for international students, including business, IT, hospitality and travel and tourism.
Who can receive it: international, fee-paying, non-sponsored students of any nationality (not Australian citizens) who meet or exceed the IELTS score set by Hunter Education Group for this scholarship.

Duolingo English Test accepted · up to 20% off tuition
Duolingo English Test Scholarship
Hunter Education Group accepts the Duolingo English Test (DET) for direct entry to our courses. This scholarship celebrates our partnership with Duolingo and rewards students with a DET score of 110 or higher.
You receive
- 20% tuition reduction with a DET score of 120 or higher
- 10% tuition reduction with a DET score of 110–119
Eligible courses: all Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses for international students.
Who can receive it: international, fee-paying, non-sponsored students of any nationality (not Australian citizens) who meet or exceed the DET score set by Hunter Education Group for this scholarship.

Hospitality scholarship · 25% off tuition + paid hotel internship
Schwartz Family Co Hospitality Scholarship
A scholarship for the next generation of hotel and hospitality leaders. It is funded by Schwartz Family Co, Australia's largest private hotel group and founding partner of Hunter Education Group, with 15 hotels across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and the ACT.
You receive
- 25% tuition reduction for the full course
- A paid internship at the Schwartz Family Co hotel of your choice

How to apply
Apply for the course as usual. We assess you on your application and Statement of Purpose, and may invite you to a short conversation before awarding it.
Who can receive it: international, fee-paying, non-sponsored students of any nationality (not Australian citizens) who show, in their application and Statement of Purpose, a track record in hospitality and a commitment to a future in the hotel industry.
University pathway · 15% off tuition
University of Newcastle Packaging Scholarship
For students who want to continue to a degree at the University of Newcastle (UON) after their Hunter Education qualification. Package your Hunter Education and UON offers together and apply for your student visa with both.
All packaged students receive
- 15% tuition reduction on your Diploma or Advanced Diploma
- Access to further UON scholarships. See newcastle.edu.au/scholarships
Eligible courses: Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT50422) and Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT60322).
Who can receive it: international, fee-paying, non-sponsored students who meet the University of Newcastle packaging requirements.
Terms for all scholarships
- Covers the full duration of the course.
- Covers tuition fees only, not other international student costs.
- Scholarship value cannot be withdrawn or refunded.
- Can be withdrawn if you do not accept your Letter of Offer or enrol by the date specified.
- Cannot be kept if you defer your (initial Hunter Education) studies beyond a 2027 start date.
- Will not be extended beyond its set duration or amount unless Hunter Education Group advises otherwise.
- Scholarships cannot be combined. If you qualify for more than one, the highest-value scholarship is awarded.
- To accept, pay the full deposit stated on your Letter of Offer when you accept your offer.
Scholarship questions
Do I need to apply for a scholarship separately?
No, for the English Excellence and Duolingo scholarships. We apply them automatically when we assess your course application. The Schwartz Family Co scholarship is assessed on your Statement of Purpose, and the UON scholarship needs a packaged offer.
Can I use the Duolingo English Test instead of IELTS?
Yes. Hunter Education Group accepts the Duolingo English Test for direct entry, and a DET score of 110 or higher qualifies for a scholarship.
Which scholarship is best for hospitality students?
The Schwartz Family Co scholarship offers the largest reduction (25%) plus a paid hotel internship, for the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management.
Can I combine two scholarships?
No. Scholarships cannot be combined. If you meet the criteria for more than one, we award the highest-value scholarship.
